Their programmes all help to enable refugees to use education and employment as a viable route out of poverty, while also beginning a step-change in the corporate response to refugee integration in the UK. The charity considers employment to be a fundamental factor in the social and economic integration of refugees.
Working directly with refugees in London, Breaking Barriers helps them gain access to a range of opportunities that can help to break down the barriers they face. In accordance with an individual development plan devised between caseworker and client to chart a path towards employment, the charity enables them access to:
IT and English classes
Permanent employment opportunities via corporate partners
This grant will support the running costs of Breaking Barriers, creating more equal employment opportunities and positive education outcomes for some of the most disadvantaged people in society.
This will enable Breaking Barriers to deliver their employment and education programmes that offer employability training; English language support; IT training; access to skills-based training, and bespoke work experience placements with corporate partners.
