Recycle 2 Support (R2S) is a Texas-based recycling company, dedicated to the recycling of textiles and household items since 1986, helping to prevent unwanted clothing and household items from ending up in landfills. The company sought to connect its dispersed, offline employees to its mission, while improving its Employee Value Proposition (EVP).

R2S needed a way to connect and communicate with its 350 employees, spread out across 12 locations and help them better understand the company’s mission, along with the benefits of getting involved in the company’s various charitable causes. Creating a sense of community and belonging became a top priority for R2S.
On top of improving employee communications, R2S wanted to increase employees’ connection to the organization and fellow team members. Along with attracting new candidates (particularly front line employees and managers), R2S needed to decrease turnover and give employees a sense of pride for working at the company.
R2S implemented an engagement platform, called Rock It, that’s completely on-brand with R2S’s colors, logo and tone and keeps the company mission close to home to create a sense of community.
Along with focusing on recycling education externally, one of R2S’s internal goals is to educate and align employees about the good work being done with the various charities it works with and how their contributions are helping the company (and beyond). R2S offers a charity giving option through the platform as a way to increase visibility and awareness and show its continuous support.
The unified engagement platform brings company news and updates to life as they happen. In addition, employees now have discounts to hundreds of retailers and on-the-spot surveys available at their fingertips.
To help improve employee morale and create a culture of appreciation, R2S launched both values-based eCards – including Strive for Greatness and Increased Customer Loyalty – and greetings-based eCards (including Rockstar Rookie and Job Well Done, which will be translated to Spanish) – as part of the new recognition initiatives.
Rock It is available on any device and at any time for employees who are on-the-go or not typically at a desk (for example, those who work in the warehouse or thrift stores). R2S is on its way to improving its EVP, creating a culture of recognition, appreciation and thank you and connecting employees to the company mission.
