Key tips for a successful wellbeing challenge

Explore practical wellbeing challenge tips and best practices to boost participation, build healthy habits, and create a more engaged workplace culture.

TD SYNNEXTD SYNNEX is a global technology distributor and solutions aggregator with more than 23,000 employees working across more than 50 countries. With employees located in so many locations and across time zones, getting and staying connected can be challenging. One of the strategies the Global Wellbeing Team uses to bring people together is Reward Gateway | Edenred’s wellbeing challenge app.

“Our people especially love the physical challenges. They love to use the in-app chat, sharing pictures and accomplishments with people all over the world.”

– Shelby Hauge, Global Wellbeing Manager

When asked what the team does to drive participation and engagement in their challenges, they offered five key pieces of advice.

Top tips for running a successful workplace wellbeing challenge

The TD SYNNEX leadership team is often involved in making the challenge announcements. Messages are delivered via text or video, but the visibility of the leadership team’s faces and names associated with challenges gets more attention and adds more value to employees.

2. Team of champions

Globally, TD SYNNEX has more than 100 Wellbeing Champions who provide regional feedback and promote new initiatives within their local teams and local languages. The Global Wellbeing team gets access to on-the-ground insight and the champions get to be a part of a team that shares their interest in wellbeing.

3. Make it inclusive

The team at TD SYNNEX lets participants know they can use traditional steps captured on their wearable device, or they can use the app’s activity tracker to convert other forms of physical activity into steps to move themselves along in the race.

To support their new values launch in 2025, the team has been using one of the provided templates to easily create a “Climb to the Top” challenge. As participants moved along the course of this challenge, they are shown elements of the new values. Tying in this new information will provide employees reinforcement of the new values in a fun, collaborative way.

5. Prizes to make it fun

The team at TD SYNNEX uses rewards – prizes via raffle, or for top teams, to make challenges interesting. Prize options have included blankets, kitchen kits, journals, power banks for travel or meditation cards depending on the type and focus of challenge.
