In partnership with Reward Gateway | Edenred, DVSA launched a branded employee engagement system, DVSAdvantage, designed to engage a diverse, nationwide workforce - making it easier for employees to access discounts, benefits, recognition and wellbeing support wherever they work.

What they needed

Responsible for keeping Britain’s roads safe, DVSA relies on a diverse workforce of around 5,500 employees - from driving and vehicle examiners working on the road to staff supporting operations behind the scenes.

With a workforce spread across the UK, including many frontline employees who spend their days on the road with limited access to laptops and internal systems, DVSA faced a challenge in making sure every employee could easily access and engage with its benefits. The existing platform had relatively low engagement, and DVSA needed a more inclusive, accessible solution that would make benefits feel relevant to everyone, not just office-based employees.

DVSA wanted to create a benefits experience that was easy for all employees to access, understand and use. The aim was to increase participation, help employees make meaningful savings in their everyday lives and build a stronger culture of recognition and appreciation across the organisation.

How we helped

Reward Gateway | Edenred partnered with DVSA to create a more accessible and engaging benefits experience for its workforce. The team launched DVSAdvantage, a branded employee engagement system that brought discounts, savings, recognition and wellbeing support together in one easy-to-use destination - helping employees access more value from their benefits, wherever they worked.

To drive adoption, DVSA took a targeted, multi-channel approach supported by Reward Gateway | Edenred. This included webinars, recorded sessions, team presentations, induction activity and tailored communications designed to reach both office-based employees and those working on the road. By making benefits easy to understand and sharing real examples of how people were using them, DVSA helped employees see the everyday value of the system.

The partnership also helped DVSA strengthen its culture of recognition. Employees could easily recognise colleagues for their contributions with fully branded eCards, and peer-to-peer recognition was shared on a public recognition wall. Monetary awards issued digitally offered another way to celebrate great work, while helping drive employees back to the system to explore the wider benefits available.

Reward Gateway | Edenred continued to support DVSA through ongoing optimisation, giving them the communication toolkits, engagement insights and recommendations to help maximise usage. Together, the partnership helped create a benefits experience that not only increased engagement, but delivered real value for employees through savings, rewards and wellbeing support.

“It’s easy to navigate and access. It’s very intuitive and simple. And it seems to be working, because engagement’s gone up to 94%. Active users have gone up to 37% and the savings everyone’s making every month is incredible.”

What they achieved

By combining an accessible benefits platform with a targeted, multi-channel communications approach, DVSA successfully engaged employees across both office-based and frontline roles. Through webinars, team presentations, induction sessions and tailored communications, more employees were able to understand and access the benefits available to them, helping to drive active platform usage to 94%.

Reward Gateway | Edenred helped DVSA create a benefits experience that delivered real, everyday value for employees. Through discounts, savings and offers available on the platform, employees saved £77k in one year, helping make their benefits feel more relevant and impactful in their day-to-day lives. A wide selection of benefits including a Cycle to Work programme has helped the DVSA team save an additional £58k in National Insurance contributions.

Employee participation in salary sacrifice schemes such as Cycle to Work have helped DVSA to generate a business saving of £25k in employer NICs.

Through the system’s recognition tools, employees find it easier to celebrate each other’s work. As a result, the workforce has sent over 1,000 eCards in one year, with £227k awarded and redeemed in rewards over the same period. DVSAdvantage has helped build a culture of continuous recognition across teams and locations, strengthening connection nationwide.
