What they needed

Eden Springs UK is a specialist provider of water and coffee solutions for businesses and homes right across the country. Employing around 210 people from London all the way to Aberdeen, the organisation needed to refresh its benefits and policies in support of a more progressive culture.

After conducting a thorough review of the organisation’s benefits, policies and communications, the HR team recognised that although Eden Springs UK was full of excellent people, the culture needed improvement and the benefits package wasn’t sufficient. The EVP hadn’t evolved with the times, wasn’t future-proofed and wasn’t financially strategic.

Aside from a well-adopted health cash plan, the only other employee benefit was an ‘attendance bonus’, which offered a financial reward for 100% attendance. While the sentiment was positive, the bonus could have been discouraging the workforce from taking any time off work, even when they were unwell or needed a day off to support family members. The company also only provided statutory maternity and paternity leave, and wasn’t addressing the needs of its employees at different stages of life.

Eden Springs set out to revamp its approach to employee rewards and benefits to focus more on genuinely appreciating employees and better supporting them through every life stage. The company wanted to introduce benefits and guidance that would help its people navigate the heightened cost of living and make their lives easier.

How we helped

The HR Team decided to redirect the budget from the outdated ‘attendance bonus’ into an employee experience platform that would provide a central hub upon which to relaunch Eden Springs’ EVP.

Within six weeks of approaching Reward Gateway | Edenred, Eden Springs’ new platform was launched to its entire UK workforce. Branded as Springboard, the platform initially launched with employee discounts - enabling people to start saving money and earning cashback immediately.

Eden Springs continued to build its benefits offering and bolster its EVP by introducing new policies, including enhanced maternity and paternity leave, as well as ‘milestone days’ for things like moving homes or getting married. Everything was communicated via Springboard, which was continuing to grow with the addition of tools for recognition.

The organisation also launched new ‘Pawternity’ and ‘Pet Bereavement’ policies, recognising that pets are an important part of their people’s families and allowing them to be able to take time off when a new pet either joins or leaves the family.

What they achieved

Since the introduction of Springboard, the culture across Eden Springs UK has been completely transformed. People feel more appreciated and supported throughout every stage of life, and are able to make use of benefits and policies that genuinely help them.

As employees began making savings and earning cashback, more and more team members started engaging with the platform. The platform achieved an 86% active user rate, with Eden Springs’ people saving £4,700 through employee discounts in just one year.

The company underwent acquisition shortly after the launch of the platform, which can typically trigger a period of destabilisation. However, Eden Springs’ engagement score increased by 4 points and its attrition reduced by 10%. Employees used the platform to support and recognise each other, with 50 eCards sent within 12 months
