Last week, we held our seventh annual Engagement Excellence Awards, which I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of the planning committee for the last five years. We celebrated with more than 350 attendees at the Roundhouse, where we turned the rockstar space into our very own magical forest.

The Engagement Excellence Awards are one of my - if not absolute - favourite times of year. The awards celebrate companies that are leading the way in employee engagement and those working to make the world a better place to work.

Beyond the experiential canapés and passed glasses of prosecco, the event celebrates the innovation that our clients show, and I hope it was inspiring for all that attended.

I personally love meeting so many of our clients in person and celebrating their achievements. This year, we received nearly 250 applications - our independent judging panel, made up of some of the most experienced HR, benefits and reward professionals in the industry - had their work cut out for them! Among the inspiring stories, of course, was plenty of playtime. We were treated to a show by top comedian Joel Dommett, runner up on "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here," and a surprise brass band set to get people out on the dance floor, too. Here are a few of my favourite moments of the night:

This year, awards included categories such as "Most creative communications" and "Best recognition strategy," and represent the best in class.

The scoring system looked at how each company had set up objectives, the approach and strategy for completing those objectives, and the subsequent results.

You can find all the winners and their stories by visiting our dedicated Winners Page.
